The Lithuanian Translators Association (LVA) is the only professional association in Lithuania that brings together both translators and interpreters. Our mission is to promote the highest professional standards in translation and interpreting, represent the interests of the profession, and enhance the recognition and prestige of translators and interpreters in society.

By joining LVA, you become part of a strong professional community dedicated to advancing the profession. Many of our goals can only be achieved through collective action, and our members play an active role in shaping the future of translation and interpreting in Lithuania. One of the Association’s most significant recent achievements was the substantial contribution of its Board members to the development of Lithuania’s national professional standard for translators and interpreters.

LVA maintains close ties with translator associations in Lithuania and abroad and collaborates with a range of institutions and organisations, including the organisers of the international literary festival Vilnius Leaves, Vilnius Business College, and the Department of Translation Studies at Vilnius University.

Our members form a close-knit and supportive professional network that fosters collegiality, continuous learning, and professional development. Throughout the year, LVA organises lectures, seminars, and discussions, while the Board regularly shares information relevant to the profession. Each year, the Association holds its General Meeting, followed by a social gathering, providing excellent opportunities to exchange ideas and expand professional networks.

LVA membership is reserved for professionals who meet high standards of competence and adhere to the Association’s Code of Ethics. For clients, membership in LVA serves as a mark of quality and professional reliability. Organisations and companies frequently ask the Association to recommend qualified translators and interpreters, and these requests are forwarded to members with the relevant language combinations and expertise.

LVA is a non-profit organisation. A modest annual membership fee enables the Board to continue its work on a voluntary basis and to support the Association’s activities.
